As Sahaja Yogis, we tend to see Shri Mataji, her teachings, and her grace at the core of the governance of a Sahaja Yoga project. Yet, as humans, we must also surrender to responsibility, becoming instruments within Her greater design.
The DEVI School Society
Among the many contributors to the start and overall function of the school is a governing entity often referred to as a School Board, or for private schools, a Board of Directors. For DEVI School, it is a non-profit Society registered in Nova Scotia, Canada, and called the DEVI International Boarding School Society.
The role of the DEVI School Society is to accept responsibility for educational needs, legal requirements, financing, fundraising, enrolment, facilities management, policies, staffing, community matters, and overall direction.
The society is bound by the terms of its Memorandum of Association. and the school is also subject to the terms of the Nova Scotia Education Act, paragraphs 130-132.
Since its inception, the Society has adhered to ideals of transparency in finances and decision-making, fairness in hiring and compensation, and open, respectful communication among contributors in its care for DEVI School. By staying true to these principles, we aim to cultivate a vibrant community that faces challenges with honesty and love.
This endeavor is both practical and spiritual, as we strive to integrate Shri Mataji’s transformative teachings into the governance of DEVI School. Our vision is for the school to become a beacon of love and collectivity for the world.
The Society consists of seven Sahaja Yogis from Canada, Italy, Germany, Brazil, the UK, and the USA, all dedicated to furthering a shared vision of an International Sahaja School in Mill Village, Nova Scotia.
