Voices That Inspire Us
“Our son enjoys the meditations at school and was very keen to lead when he returned home for the holidays.
He has become more confident and independent, and realises the importance of meditation and spiritual growth.
One day, he told us that Navaratri nights are awesome and that he was feeling a lot of vibrations in the school—and was genuinely happy about this.”

“I often get the question: ‘Don’t you miss your children?‘ I had my moments, especially when they were little, but nowadays I mostly hear myself reply, ‘No, I don’t—because they are happy and in a place that helps them grow and become themselves. So I don’t miss them.‘
And when we are together, it’s so beautiful. We appreciate each other so much—fully, with our attention in the joy of the present moment, together, sharing many moments and discussions.“

“My children also went to ISPS for a few years, so they are used to living in Sahaj Schools. They both love it.
As parents, we feel so blessed to have them in an environment that respects and nourishes their vibrations, and teaches them the regularity and discipline of meditation and clearing to help them feel the difference between a world with and without vibrations.”

“The school helped them understand who they are, understand their weaknesses and work on them, see their strength and help their skills and personalities develop and shine.
It’s not always easy to live in an ashram—eat, play, study, share a room with the same people for 9–10 months—but because it’s not easy, it pushes the children deep inside to find solutions in their spirit, with the guidance of their friends, uncles, and aunties (and maybe a little bit from Mum and Dad over the phone 😆).
What a life Mother’s beautiful children are having! What an incredible opportunity.
Thank you so much, Shri Mataji, again and again from the bottom of my heart.”

“We sent our son to DEVI school as we felt he needed to experience collectivity in its fullest—meditating with other children his age, having older children, uncles, and aunties as his role models.
We felt that the attitude/everyday life of the school is very balanced—children are growing spiritually, and at the same time, they have fun, they have wonderful company, activities, and are well looked after.”

“What I liked most about my experience at the DEVI School was all the events organized by the staff, ranging from simple things like movie nights, to sports activities, joining teams, and competitions. It kept things moving aside from studies, giving me something to look forward to almost every single day.“
–Student
“It’s truly a blessing to surrender your children to the love, wisdom, and diversity of your Sahaj Family, away from your conditionings. This opens their mind so much to the reality of the world and makes them realise what it feels like to be loved, to be creative, to feel joy, and to have fun.
To live in collectivity is so important: to learn to compromise, be detached, and share with all.
I can see my children now, 19 and 15, are so easygoing, with no expectations or demands, because they know what it is like to be raised in a big family.“

“A lot of very positive and memorable things happened while I was at DEVI school. Some of the greatest memories I have are the experiences in nature: outdoor walks in the forest, fishing, playing sports by the windy and chilly sea, and more.
Sometimes it was also the brotherhood—movie nights, deep talks with close friends, and meditations.
The best experience can’t be described in one sentence or summed up in a single day—it’s a collection of memories that stay deep in your heart.”

“The best part for me was being part of this amazing collective—the Sahaj family we have here. It’s the sisters and brothers you meet at the DEVI school, and the supportive aunties and uncles who volunteer and dedicate parts of their lives to assist and guide us as we continue to grow.
I also have to admit (though I hate to say it…) that not having phones was a big one! It had a real impact on me and gave me the chance to actually live—to enjoy each moment and truly stay present, both mentally and physically.”

“The highlight of my experience at DEVI School is definitely the collectivity, the feeling of having a big family, and the international experience.
As an American, I’ve learned so much about other countries and their cultures, and it has made me a more sensitive, empathetic, and culturally aware individual.”

“The highlights for me were friends and nature, and how the boys get along so well. We did gym and sports and everything, having the best time of our lives, pursuing our passions.”

“I became closer to Sahaj principles, and living in a shared space further helped me to develop communication skills.“

“The children are not oppressed, so they have the serenity to grow properly.”

“DEVI School was not super easy for me socially and spiritually, as I am a left-sided and closed person.
However, with the help of staff, students, and meditation, those qualities in me grew and improved substantially in a positive manner.
This, perhaps, was the biggest growth for me personally.”

“My spiritual growth was most affected by the school because meditation is the priority. I feel like the energy itself is very powerful back there, so meditating is a joy—and that goes alongside singing bhajans with the school’s incredible energy.”
–Student
“My academic life was greatly supported by the availability of staff, meaning that classes are quite small, so everyone can get appropriate attention from the teaching staff.”
In terms of personal growth, I think the DEVI School had me feeling like a child, simply because of how well taken care of I was.
My greatest daily worries would include assignments or desires to improve in certain areas, so I think, personally, the DEVI School gives a child the security of focusing on academics, sports, and life among other students.
This made leaving the DEVI School an interesting experience, as you are much more exposed to the outside world, where you have to adapt and adhere to the environment.”

“Well, it definitely helped me drastically improve in my academics, due to all the support I received from staff members (taking extra time for me, having patience) and students (helping each other out, supporting).
Personally, I had the chance of changing and developing deeper and further, thanks to the experiences and lessons that I learned (cultural differences, friendships) and by far spiritually grew (learning how to clear catches, meditate independently, establish a stronger connection with Mother, while being in this Sahaj bubble).
Now, as a graduating student, ready to leave knowing that I need to further grow by leaving this beautiful place I call home—DEVI School.“

“DEVI School curriculum is quite unique as it is a new school and mostly relies on young but qualified volunteers to teach. Going into my first year of college, I don’t feel like I missed learning anything important in DEVI School; in fact, I discovered that I got a head start on a few things that other students in my college didn’t cover in high school.
The younger teachers that just gotten out of university have a fresh mind of what they experienced. So they tend to set you up for what to expect in university. This way, I was able to ease into my university learning quite easily.”

“For personal and spiritual growth, having that meditation time in the morning and evening has been so useful to just get ready for the day or ease off any stress or tension built up during the day.
Being able to meditate together in a collective environment is such a blessing.”
